Legislatively recognized in 2001 as the official Texas Tejano Music Hall of Fame, the Tejano ROOTS Museum serves as Texas’ leading Tejano music archive.

Dedicated to "Remembering Our Own Tejano Stars" (R.O.O.T.S), this museum celebrates a unique musical style with South Texas origins. Combining classical mariachi and corrido music with accordion-based polkas of German and Czech origin, and later incorporating American music styles such as blues and rock and roll, Tejano music reflects the cultural mix of the Lone Star State.
