What happened at Anahuac in June 1832 might not seem – on the surface - like a major historic event. But the confrontation between Texian settlers (including a soon-to-be-famous attorney named William Travis) and the Mexican soldiers inspired the creation of the “Turtle Bayou Resolutions” – a written list of grievances against the Mexican government that helped shape the coming Texas Revolution.
Today, Fort Anahuac Park is a recreation area and contains several historical markers detailing the history of the area.
