Brownsville: Palo Alto Battlefield National Historic Park

The site of the first major engagement of the U.S.-Mexico War remains relatively unchanged since the Battle of Palo Alto was fought on May 8, 1846. Cannons and flags mark the front lines of the U.S. and Mexican armies who faced off in this open field. Interactive exhibits and a 15-minute film in both English and Spanish reveal even more about this event.
