Calvert was an expanded Model 6-A school, built to accommodate up to 12 teachers.

The largest “Rosenwald School” in Texas, Calvert School represents the determination of Julius Rosenwald to provide education for rural African American children in the 1920s. Calvert School is now is now a multipurpose center operated by Calvert Colored W.D. Spigner High School Alumni Association, Inc.
