Opened on March 2nd, 1950, the Galvan Ballroom was a lively musical and cultural performance venue enjoyed by diverse audiences in Corpus Christi and spearheaded desegregation in Jim Crow Texas. Founded by musician and police officer Rafael Galvan, Sr., the Galvan Ballroom continues to host cultural events for the Corpus Christi community and offers onsite interpretation of the ballroom’s history.
