Dallas’ oldest Freedmen’s Community is the root of the Tenth Street Historic District, now home to many examples of Craftsman, Victorian, and especially interesting examples of folk architecture, including shotgun, double shotgun, L-plan, and camelback plan houses. Most of these dwellings were built prior to World War II, although a few date to the 1890s.
