This downtown cultural institution began in 1974 as the El Paso Cavalry Museum. It has since expanded to two stories and five galleries covering the city's 400 years of border life. Permanent exhibits examine Spanish and Mexican influences on the area, from the establishment of El Camino Real in the late 1500s to ranching, mission life, and cultural conflicts.
