This site commemorates the Battle of Coleto Creek, which occurred less than a month after the Battle of the Alamo. 300 Texian volunteers led by Gen. James Fannin were marched to Goliad and then executed by order of Mexican Gen. Santa Anna. “Remember Goliad!” became a rallying cry for Texas forces. Today, the site contains interpretive exhibits that reflect on the battle’s pivotal role in state history.
