A World War II prisoner-of-war camp, Camp Hearne housed 4,800 prisoners. Today the site has many building foundations outlining the original “footprint” and remnants of prisoner-built amenities. An exhibit depicting the daily life of the prisoners may be viewed in a reconstructed U.S. Army barracks on the historic site.
