Despite the density of downtown Laredo, few buildings rise higher than two or three stories, which makes the 141-foot clock tower of this Cathedral all the more impressive as it is one of the tallest structures in the city. Although the church was organized by the Spanish in 1760, construction of the current Gothic Revival church began in 1866.
