Fort McIntosh, West End Washington St.
Fort McIntosh was established in 1848 to protect Laredo and its strategic river crossing. The fort was deactivated after the end of World War II and has since been integrated into the main campus of Laredo Community College. Signs throughout the campus denote the original purposes of the buildings as part of the historic fort, and a gallery in the library contains a collection of paintings and photos of the fort.
