The bricked streets and historic structures that make up the San Agustin de Laredo Historic District demark the boundaries of the original city of Laredo founded by Spanish Capitan Don Tomás Sánchez in 1755.  Mission, Spanish Revival, and Greek Revival structures surround shaded plazas, recalling the old world elegance of Spanish and Mexican town squares.
