Lubbock: Footprints of History Memorial

In salute to the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and in commemoration of the city’s early African American pioneers, Lubbock’s Footprints of History Memorial is composed of symbolic footprints and the names of those who have made valuable contributions to the community, such as Councilman T.J. Patterson, Lubbock’s first African American city councilman, L.V. Andrews, the first African American supervisor for Mrs. Baird’s, and Frances Bell, the first African American woman to work for Lubbock National Bank’s mortgage loan and real estate department.
