Housed in an 1887 school building, the Mason County Museum interprets fort history and the development of the county over time. The travel trunk of John O. Meusebach, founder of Fredericksburg and peacemaker with the Comanches, is on display here, as is an exhibit telling the story of the 1875 Mason County Hoodoo War, a local cattle rustling feud.
