Miami: Roberts County Museum

Billy Dixon, a civilian scout and buffalo hunter, found himself immersed in several of the battles of the Red River War. His participation in the Battle of Buffalo Wallow earned him the Medal of Honor, even though he was not formally enlisted in the Army. Listen to a story about the battle here.
