Cattle drivers crossed Brushy Creek in Round Rock on their way to markets in Kansas. At the crossing point, a series of bronze sculptures – crafted by sculptor Jim Thomas – commemorates the Chisholm Trail. Included in these are “The Pioneer Woman” and “The Pioneer Boy,” which honor the memory of Hattie Cluck – one of the first women to complete the Chisholm Trail. Some locals believe deep ruts cut into the bed of Brushy Creek are from wagons that went up the Chisholm Trail. More likely, however, they’re a product of quarrying activity.

In Old Town, the Williamson Museum's living history event venue highlights Texas during the 1870s. Featuring two historic homes, visitors will experience the cattle drive era firsthand at this site near the banks of Brushy Creek. Contact the Williamson Museum in Georgetown for more information.
