Calera Chapel
Established at the turn of the 20th century by Father Nicolas Brocardus, a young Dutch priest, Calera Chapel first began as Mission Mary. The modest one-room chapel was originally built of adobe and rock in 1925. It served Hispanic families, many of whom farmed surrounding land or worked in the nearby Calera pits.
